Bodegas Darien

La inspiración salió de los propios viñedos riojanos “…donde la sucesión de lomas y cerros hacen crear al hombre una interminable malla de viñas separadas entre sí por pequeños taludes y ribazos… de esos ribazos emergen piedras, piedras con aristas todavía no erosionadas por el viento.Así, siguiendo esta analogía, en el ribazo sobre la viña, del cerro que lo domina, emerge la bodega presentándose como una agregación de grandes peñascos que giran unos sobre los otros dejando pasar la luz.Entre cuerpo y cuerpo, entre cara y cara se ocultan grandes paños de vidrio que iluminan estancias y lugares nunca convencionales”.El arquitecto Jesús Marino Pascual es el responsable de plasmar todo el espíritu y la filosofía de los vinos Darien en una bodega muy singular.No ha habido detalle que no se haya tenido en consideración: el cuidado y la integración con el delicado paisaje de la finca Darien I ha sido una premisa; la sostenibilidad energética, un principio; el orden, la funcionalidad y la incorporación de la última tecnología enológica una obligación.

The inspiration sprang from the Rioja vineyards themselves “…where the succession of ridges and hillocks means that man has had to create an endless mesh of vines separated from each other by slopes and steep banks… from these banks emerge rocks, stones with sharp edges which have not yet been worn smooth by the wind. Thus, continuing with this analogy, in the steep bank above the vineyard, from the hillock which overlooks it, the bodega rises up, appearing like a jagged wall of big boulders revolving around each other and letting past the light. Between the blocks, between the faces, there are huge hidden panes of glass illuminating spaces and areas which are never conventional”.
Jesús Marino Pascual is the architect responsible for converting the whole spirit and ethos of Darien wines in an original and unique bodega design. Integration with the delicate landscape of the Darien I estate was a pre-condition; sustainable energy resources, a principle; order, practical functionality and the incorporation of the latest winemaking technology, an obligation.
